de Bese

How the suffix 'Bese' came about

‘de Bese’ was the name of the estate where I was born. It was located north west of a town called Dalfsen and my grandparents lived there on the de Bese farm. That farm is probably a successor of the farm that you can see on this etching. The farm was rebuilt after it burned down in the war.
Today the only thing left as a reminder of the estate and the farm that once was is a street named de Bese.

I bought Wabatsje as a fowl on the Rodermarket in 1980 from breeder Marchinus Ananias from Nietap with the intention of founding a stud for sport horses. I changed the –Batsje into the –Bese line because he was also breeding with this mare line. And so, all offspring of Wabatsje got the suffix ‘Bese’.

Later on I bought another mare fowl named Dabatsa from the same breeder. This mare brought three mare fowls in a row and was then sold to Jan Rene Krijthe where she was introduced to a career in Sports under the name Fascinating Girl.
The high point of her career was winning the Dutch Championships Z- Jumping at the Levade in 1993. After this she became Drents indoor Champion ZZ-Jumping and was sold consecutively. Unfortunately she was lost in an accident at her new owner.
With the three mare fowls, Helena, Irena and Jelena, from Dabatsa I started up an – ena line.
